There is a skin condition called Keratosis Pilaris, or more known as ‘chicken skin’ which can be quite annoying. The skin gets all bumpy since the hair follicle is red and clogged with dead skin. The affected area does not shed dead skin cells at the same rate as unaffected skin and the protein which makes the layers of the skin start accumulating and become trapped inside the follicles. 40% of adults are affected by this condition and it can also appear with children usually around the arms, legs and cheeks. It can be associated with food intolerances/allergies like gluten and dairy, and also deficiencies of Vitamin A, C and Zinc. The skin is dry, dehydrated and buildup, so you will need a combination of water, oil and exfoliation to make a home remedy instead of buying expensive skin products, or visiting the dermatologist.
Just take sugar and olive oil, mix it, gently applying to the affected area through circulating movements. You may add few drops of essential oils such as tea tree, rose or lavender. After that, rinse well. Repeat this every morning and in a few weeks you will notice a big difference. Once you stop the treatment the skin will again become dry and dehydrated, thus be sure to continue with the scrubs since there is no remedy for the condition. However, the mixture of olive oil and sugar can make you feel it has been cured.
